Today, Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith along with Ravens President Dick Cass kicked-off the Baltimore Ravens Purple Fridays in the Old Courthouse gardens encouraging all employees to wear purple on Fridays throughout the NFL season.

Acting as emcee for the event, WBAL Radio sports announcer Keith Mills and former Ravens punter Kyle Richardson entertained the crowd who gathered to "turn-up" the purple in time for Friday and the team's home opener on Sunday.

"Starting tomorrow, county employees are going to show their support each and every week of this season on Purple Fridays, said Smith. "Everyone in the Baltimore region is proud to support the Ravens, but in Baltimore County we are particularly proud. Because on Sundays, they may play downtown, but for the other six days of the week, they call Baltimore County home."

Not only are individual employees joining in the spirited fanfare, County agencies are turning-on the purple as well. The library in Towson will install purple filters on their windows every Friday and "run" Ravens messages on its electronic board; all County senior centers will be decorated in purple; and recreation centers will participate in the Friday fun with purple enthusiasm.

The Ravens cheerleaders and Poe were on hand as well to promote Purple Fridays with County employees.
