Ravens players were on hand for the holidays to provide Thanksgiving meals to families in need, combating the hunger issue in Maryland. Each week, more than 50,000 people rely on community feeding programs to avoid going hungry.

Annually, the players commit to making a difference and feeding Maryland families.

* On Monday, Ravens safety Ed Reed provided 120 families of Booker T. Washington Middle School students with the necessary items to dine in their own home. Reed has a special relationship with students at the school - his L.O.R.D.S. (Leadership, Order, Respect, Discipline, Success) Program rewards students who reach certain goals, based on behavior, schoolwork and attendance, with tickets to each home game.

* For the second year, linebacker Bart Scott partnered with the Helping Up Mission in downtown Baltimore to provide Thanksgiving meals for 275 people. Turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mixed vegetables, rolls and dessert will be a special meal for all those who come to the Mission on Tuesday.

The Mission is a residential facility where Scott will be serving dinner to the guests, along with cornerbacks Derrick Martin and David Pittman, safeties Jamaine Winborne and Gerome Sapp, and return specialist B.J. Sams.

* Wideout Mark Clayton, linebacker Ray Lewis and quarterback Steve McNair joined forces to supply 600 Baltimore families with the following items Tuesday: turkey, ham, vegetables, desserts, Frito Lay items, Girl Scout cookies, Vitamin Water, dry goods and personal care items.

* Quarterback Kyle Boller distributed Thanksgiving baskets to residents of Pigtown, a southwest Baltimore neighborhood, at Paul's Place Outreach Center Tuesday. The Thanksgiving dinners will serve 300 persons, many of which are families with children under the age of 10.

*Ravens running backs P.J. Daniels, Justin Green, Le'Ron McClain, Cory Ross and Musa Smith provided Thanksgiving baskets to Howard County families in need Tuesday. The players worked with the Community Action Council, a nonprofit human services organization committed to helping its most vulnerable citizens.
