Brian Billick
On how motivated the team seems for the last game of the year: "They're working hard, as they always do. I always appreciate them working hard the way they do, and they had a good day today."
On whether he expects a lot more Steelers fans to travel to Baltimore for Sunday's game: "I'm past trying to figure out when they come, when they don't' come. They didn't come much last year. I don't know whether it was because they couldn't get tickets or they weren't interested. But, obviously the whole League this weekend is working with the circumstance where the meaning of the games, and everybody is approaching it a different way. So, I couldn't begin to figure out how the fans will do it."
On if he understands why some Ravens fans would sell their tickets to Pittsburgh fans: "Sure. Sure, I do. Sure, I do."
On the status of RB Mike Anderson for Sunday's game: "Again, a hamstring for a running back is tough. So, he tried to work through it a little bit today. We'll see how the week progresses."
On whether the time change for Sunday's game is a factor: "It just backs everything up on Saturday. We've certainly played our share of 4:15 games. You would certainly prefer to play a 1:00, but it doesn't change anything that we do."
On his theory of teams playing or resting players prior to the playoffs: "I've talked to four head coaches just in the last two days about that very thing. Them querying about this and that, and everybody approaches it a different way. We've kind of taken a philosophy that we've played it straight up. But, everybody has a different way that they approach it. So, we're going to play whoever shows up with whoever we've got and will show up, and hopefully put on a good game for our fans or whoever's fans show up – theirs or ours."
On if RB Musa Smith will start against the Steelers: "Yeah. It would look that way, certainly."
On what Musa Smith brings to the Ravens: "Musa is a good, strong, outside-slashing-and-cut [player]. It will be fun to see Musa carry the load."
On whether RB Cory Ross might play: "Absolutely, absolutely."
On Sunday's game being a final chance to make an impression: "Yeah, [that is] anytime you get on the football field. I don't know that there will be any determinations made off this game. Obviously, we'll have a lot to do in the offseason. But, any time you can get a good competitive live tape on somebody it helps you in that evaluation."
On whether he was impressed with CB Derrick Martin's play against Seattle: "Yeah, yeah. Derrick has always been a competitor. Like I've said, he's got a good, short memory. Sometimes it's too short, but he's always going to battle and forget what happened and move on to the next play. So, I was pleased to see Derrick do what he did."
On T Jonathan Ogden's decision about retirement at the end of this season: "We will give him that time. And, it's not something we've really addressed or talked about because he deserves to take it at his own pace and kind of want to believe that he's not going to go. So, we'll take it at the pace that he decides, but it's been great to see him out there these last eight games."
On how the body and mind feels by the conclusion of a season: "You've done a few marathons. I probably don't feel as good right now about my marathon as yours. It is that, but you finish it. That's the key, to use your analogy. These guys are doing that, they are finishing. You're tired, you're fatigued and you're emotionally worn out. But, at this stage of the game, whether you're going to the playoffs or not, you're kind of in that state. I am just appreciative the way these guys keep working through it."
On his thoughts on the development of QB Ben Roethlisberger: "It was a natural maturation – his understanding of what they're doing, his patience to wait things out where before he might have rushed a little bit. It's a natural maturation of a quarterback."
On whether there is a get-even feeling among the Ravens players for the Pittsburgh game: "No. This was the flip side of last year. Hopefully, we can turn that around. Where we were able to get both games last year – we'd certainly not like to give up both games this year – but I don't know that it's related much to the last game. It's the Pittsburgh Steelers and it's a rivalry and you want to play well."
On if he plans to talk with LB Bart Scott about keeping him temper in check on Sunday: "Bart has been through enough things to know the way he has to conduct himself."
