Ravens Promote Senior Staff to VP
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Baltimore Ravens have promoted five more senior staff members to vice president: Ed Burchell (Vice President, Regional Partnerships and Sales), Gabrielle Dow (Vice President, Marketing), Jeff Goering (Vice President and Chief Financial Officer), Kevin Rochlitz (Vice President, National Partnerships and Sales) and Larry Rosen (Vice President, Broadcasting).
"Each of these new vice presidents works hard every day to make the Ravens a better organization," said Ravens president Dick Cass.
Burchell, a Baltimore native who joined the Ravens in March of 2002, leads the Ravens' regional sales efforts. A two-time entrepreneur of the year for Genesis Health Ventures, Burchell got his start in the commercial banking industry. In 2000, as a civic project, he worked closely with former Ravens senior vice president, Dennis Mannion, to found the Ravens All Community Team, whose goal was to raise funds in a marriage between regional businesses, the team and the players. Burchell is directly responsible for creating the newly-opened Geppi Entertainment Club Level and the naming of the Ravens Ring of Honor, presented by Smyth.
"Eddie brings both a passion and pride to the Ravens that is unparalleled in building the Ravens' brand value in his hometown and throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region," mentions vice president, corporate sales Mark Burdett.
Dow joined the team at the start of the 2006 season as the Senior Director of Marketing. Her professional team marketing experience includes stints with the NHL's Florida Panthers (2003-05) and the Anschutz Entertainment Group & Staples Center (1999-2003). Since her arrival in Baltimore, Dow, who earned both an M.B.A. and a law degree at Oregon, has worked hard to leverage partner marketing and activation and to drive aggressive promotion and advertising in all areas for the club. In 2007, under her direction, Dow launched four new Ravens fan affinity clubs and led the promotion of the Ravens new broadcasting initiatives in addition to the already existing platforms.
"As one of the strongest team brands in the U.S., the Ravens strive daily to connect and touch their fans in new and exciting ways," expresses Dow. "Our goal is to make the Ravens a seven day of week lifestyle, not just a Sunday ritual.
The Ravens were recently ranked the 12th in team brand loyalty amongst the 122 professional NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL teams, according to a Sports Business Journal/Turnkey Sports & Entertainment fan survey.
Cass adds, "Gabrielle brings energy and vision to our marketing efforts."
Goering joined the Ravens during the 1999 season as the team's controller. He oversees all financial operations of the organization, including budgeting, financial reporting, taxation and audits. Goering also serves as vice president/treasurer for the Ravens All Community Team Foundation. His experience includes consulting work on feasibility analyses for new stadiums/arenas and franchise financial analyses with PricewaterhouseCoopers and assistance in salary arbitration cases for the Boston Red Sox, while obtaining his Master's in Sport Management from UMass-Amherst.
"Jeff has done outstanding work for us as our chief financial officer," says Cass.
Rochlitz has been with the Ravens since 2003, starting as director of corporate sales. He oversees the team's national sales efforts, handling all sponsorships and media partnerships at the national level, including Anheuser-Busch, Miller Brewing Co., Mastercard and Samsung. Prior to joining the Ravens, Rochlitz was the senior vice president of sales for Mandalay Sports Entertainment in Dallas for five years. He got his start as an athletic department intern at his alma mater, the University of Wyoming, and then spent a number of years working as an assistant athletic director both at Fresno State and the University of Miami.
"Everyone who works with Kevin is amazed by his drive and commitment to craft positive relationships nationally that define the Ravens and achieve our business goals," adds Burdett.
Rosen is a 13-time EMMY award winner who joined the Ravens in March of 2000, following 16 years with PRISM/Sportschannel Philadelphia, where he served as Executive Producer of Sports Programming and handled play-by-play duties for the Philadelphia Phillies, the Atlantic 10 and other Philadelphia sports franchises. Previously, he was named National Reporter of the Year and earned various other honors as a news reporter for KYW Newsradio. He is a graduate of Temple University and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2005.
"Larry's creativity and leadership have contributed to award-winning television shows and an entertaining presentation on our video boards at M&T Bank Stadium," mentions Cass.
"Our organization believes deeply in having multiple touch points with our fans, from the intimacy of the game-day experience to our daily television, radio and web-based shows," explains Rosen. "Our broadcasting group has been blessed to be given consistent inside access, which we can share with our fans, and that has made this position an absolute joy."
