The Ravens continued to bolster their linebacking corps and special teams by signing Nick Greisen to a three-year contract Monday.

Greisen was added to Baltimore’s roster during Week 3 last year after being released by the Jacksonville Jaguars before opening day, and the 6-1, 244-pound linebacker immediately contributed. He saw action in all 14 contests in purple and black, finishing with 13 special teams stops.

In addition, Greisen was a key sub from scrimmage, even starting the Ravens’ final two contests with incumbent Ray Lewis sidelined due to a finger injury. Greisen, 28, ended up leading the team in tackles in both of those games, posting a career-high 17 stops against the Seattle Seahawks (Dec. 23) and 15 in the finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers (Dec. 30).

Entering his seventh season, Greisen was originally a fifth-round draft pick out of Wisconsin by the New York Giants in 2002. He was picked up by the Jaguars as a free agent in 2006, where he started 10 of 16 games played and tallied 82 tackles.

Greisen is the only unrestricted free agent on the Ravens’ roster to return to the team thus far. Wideout Devard Darling was recently signed by the Kansas City Chiefs, while running back Musa Smith, safety Gerome Sapp and return specialist B.J. Sams remain unsigned.
