RAVENS ACQUIRE DOUGLAS IN TRADE, MAKE ROSTER MOVE

In exchange for a 2009 draft choice and 2010 conditional pick, the Baltimore Ravens have acquired DE Marques Douglas via trade with Tampa Bay, general manager Ozzie Newsome announced Wednesday.

A 2007 defensive captain for the San Francisco 49ers – where he spent the past three seasons before signing with Tampa Bay this offseason – Douglas returns to Baltimore for his third stint as a Raven.

“We’re really happy to get a quality player who is also a quality person back to our team, especially this time of year,” Newsome stated of the 6-foot-2, 292-pounder.

Douglas originally began his NFL career with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 1999. He then signed with the New Orleans Saints in 2000 and returned to Baltimore from 2001-04. Following those four years with the Ravens, he signed with San Francisco in 2005, where he started all 16 games and posted a career-high 100 tackles last season.

A durable performer, Douglas has not missed a game over the past five seasons. In 88 career contests (79 starts), he has posted 437 tackles (249 solo) and 19 sacks. (Full Douglas bio attached.)
