Ravens receiver Marcus Smith will be placed on Injured Reserve with a torn anterior cruciate ligament that he suffered in Thursday night’s preseason-opening win over the Washington Redskins.

After the game, head coach John Harbaugh said that Smith suffered a knee injury that “looks serious” and “could be an ACL.”

Smith came up limping after making a special teams tackle in the second quarter. Racing down the field on a Sam Koch punt, Smith brought running back Dominique Dorsey to the ground for no gain on the return.

Ravens trainers looked after him on the sideline, and Smith did not return to the game.

Afterwards, Smith needed crutches to walk across the locker room.

Smith was putting together a solid training camp thus far. He had been praised by offensive coordinator Cam Cameron for his hard work this offseason to become more than just a special teams performer.

Smith was thrown to three times against the Redskins, but only caught one pass for 9 yards.
