Training Camp

The Byrne Identity: Tension at the Ravens

by Kevin Byrne 9/2/2009

This is probably my least favorite week of the year. First, it seems everyone outside the building underestimates the importance of the last preseason game. Second, we have 75 players today. In 3 days, we’ll have 53. That means 22 players will be waived, most having their longtime dream of playing in the NFL smashed. That creates a lot of tension.

After three weeks of training camp, the Ravens believe they are on the way to becoming the football team they want. But there is still a long way to go.

As training camp comes to a close, BaltimoreRavens.com looks back at some of the more interesting pairings of roommates from the past month.

2009 Training Camp Schedule

The Baltimore Ravens open the 14th consecutive training camp at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD in late July 2009.

Camp kicks off with two practices (8:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.) on Tuesday, July 28, and breaks on Sunday, Aug. 23. Ravens rookies, quarterbacks and injured veteran players will report on Monday, July 27, and take part in four practices before all veterans arrive Wednesday, July 29. The first full-squad practices open to the public are scheduled for Friday, July 31, at 8:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m.
