Marwan Maalouf Biography

Marwan Maalouf is in his second season as the Ravens’ assistant special teams coach. In 2008, Maalouf rejoined special teams coordinator/assistant head coach Jerry Rosburg, for whom he worked in Cleveland for three years. Marwan is an experienced personnel evaluator and teacher whose expertise assists Rosburg in creating special teams schemes.

2008: (with Baltimore) Worked closely with Rosburg to guide the Ravens’ special teams units...Special teams ace Brendon Ayanbadejo earned his third Pro Bowl, and P Sam Koch had the NFL’s fifth-best net punting average (39.9), setting a Ravens’ record...Koch also led the league with 18 punts inside the 10-yard line and was second with 34 punts inside the 20...He was ninth in gross punting average (45.0), which was also a franchise record.

2007: Worked for Scouts Inc., writing weekly scouting reports and game previews that appeared on ESPN.com…Marwan also served as a volunteer coach for Baldwin-Wallace, working primarily with the O-line.

2004-06: (with Cleveland) 2006: Special teams finished with a fifth-overall rating…Spent his third season with the Browns, including his third as quality control coach with an emphasis on special teams…RS Joshua Cribbs finished third in the NFL with 1,545 total return yards…The Browns boasted a 10.3-yard punt return average for the season, seventh in the NFL.

2005: Cleveland’s punt return unit ranked fourth in the league with a 10.1 average…Team earned a No. 6-overall ranking in The Dallas Morning News’ annual special teams poll, a comprehensive evaluation compiled by the newspaper’s revered NFL reporter Rick Gosselin.

2004: Marwan joined the Browns as a scouting administrator and was responsible for film breakdown and gameplanning, as well as college and pro scouting…On the field, Maalouf worked with the O-line as quality control coach.

2002-2003: (with Rutgers) He spent two seasons at Rutgers as an assistant offensive line coach and assisted in all phases of special teams…Under Craig Ver Steeg, the Scarlet Knights’ offensive coordinator and current Ravens offensive assistant, Maalouf coached the unit with current Florida International head coach Mario Cristobal.

2002: (with Eastern Michigan University) Held a graduate assistant post, but left after the spring to join the Rutgers’ coaching staff.

2001: (with Fordham University) Served as assistant offensive line coach.

2000: (with Baldwin-Wallace College) Started coaching career at his alma mater…Was the Yellow Jackets’ assistant O-line coach.

College: Earned three letters while playing offensive guard from 1997-99…A two-time All- Ohio Athletic Conference selection…Named Baldwin-Wallace’s Outstanding Offensive Lineman and elected team captain his senior season…Earned a degree in history from Baldwin-Wallace.

Personal: Marwan is a graduate of Strongsville (OH) HS, where he lettered in football and track and field for the Mustangs…Born and raised in Ohio, Marwan keeps close ties with his family and friends in the greater Cleveland area...Recently married his wife, Dana.
