Quarterback Challenge Quarterback Challenge

The Toyota Quarterback Challenge showcased Maryland high school quarterbacks who are chosen in conjunction with the High School Coaches Association. During halftime of every home game this season, one quarterback and two receivers from each participating high school were featured in a passing competition. Each quarterback was given two chances to complete the longest pass to his receivers. Both high schools received 40 tickets for the game so their team could attend and cheer them on. This season, the athletes also received a Joe Flacco autographed football and a $300 gift card from Dick’s Sporting Goods for their high school’s Athletic Department. Congratulations to the outstanding athletes from the high schools listed below who participated in the Quarterback Challenge this season!

Punt, Pass & Kick

Punt, Pass and Kick

With more than four million boys and girls from around the country taking part in the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competition every year from July through January, it is one of the world's largest youth sports participation programs. Punt, Pass & Kick is a national skills competition for boys and girls to compete separately against their peers in punting, passing and place kicking. The NFL wants every child to be given an equal opportunity to compete, so there is no registration fee or purchase required for any participant to enter. Boys and girls, in four separate age divisions (8-9, 10-11, 12-13, and 14-15), compete against each other in punting, passing and place kicking. Scores are calculated as distance minus accuracy. Winners from local events advance to Sectional Competitions, with the top five winners in each region advancing to Team Championships. The first-place finishers in each Team Championship age group advance to the National Finals at an NFL playoff game in January.

Thank you to all of those who participated in the 2009 Punt, Pass, and Kick competition, and congratulations to the following Baltimore Ravens sectional winners:

8/9 Girls – Eva Macris

8/9 Boys – Troy Hettinger

10/11 Girls – Mallory Pletzer

10/11 Boys – Dominic Maggio

12/13 Girls – Paige Brice

12/13 Boys – Brandon Custis

14/15 Girls – Sarah Firestone
