The path for cornerback Asa Jackson to return to the field has been cleared. 

The Ravens officially took Jackson off the injured reserve-designated for return list and moved him to the active 53-man roster Saturday. That means Jackson, who has missed the last seven games due to a toe injury, is expected to suit up Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. 

To make room for Jackson, the Ravens moved rookie undrafted cornerback Tramain Jacobs to injured reserve, ending his season. Jacobs was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday, and did not practice on Friday. He was already ruled out for Sunday's game.

Jackson has practiced for the past two weeks to get back in football shape, and impressed Defensive Coordinator Dean Pees.

“I think he’s playing really, really well,” Pees said. “Now, time will tell. You can’t really tell out here in practice until the bullets start flying if he’s back to where he was. But he seems to be moving well and doing fine. I think he’ll really help us back there, at least basically in the slot.”

Jackson feels like his return could help unify the secondary because he brings additional experience and communication to the defensive backfield.

He could end up being the Ravens’ No. 3 cornerback behind Lardarius Webb and Anthony Levine, but Jackson also did have four starts before he suffered the toe injury. He made 19 tackles and defensed one pass during his five games before going down.
