The Baltimore Ravens have selected Dr. Elizabeth Morgan as the recipient of the NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award.
The NFL and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) have partnered for the third annual NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Awards during the 2013 celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. The awards recognize the contributions of Hispanic leaders in each NFL market.
The Ravens will honor Dr. Morgan on September 22 at their Hispanic Heritage game against the Houston Texans.
President of the Morgan Education Group, Dr. Elizabeth Molina Morgan has spent over 30 years specializing in education for inner-city, rural and suburban area public schools. Dr. Morgan was recently Chief Education Advisor to America’s Promise Alliance, and served as Superintendent of the Washington County (Maryland) Schools for nearly a decade. She not only led the district to increase its graduation rate from 78 percent to 92 percent, but also improved the dropout rate to one of the lowest in the state. She served as Chief Academic Officer with Baltimore City public schools during its first major reform effort, as well as a teacher, principal and senior administrator in various school systems. Dr. Morgan received numerous awards for her service, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents in 2011, the American Association of School Administrators’ 2010 National Superintendent of the Year, and was an honoree of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation.
Each award recipient will select an organization of their choice that serves the local community to receive a $2,000 donation.
Dr. Morgan has chosen the Dr. Elizabeth Molina Morgan Scholarship Fund to receive this donation. Each year, the Scholarship is awarded to a female graduate who demonstrates high academic promise and financial need. The recipient will be chosen by a scholarship committee that includes members of the Washington County Public School Educational Foundation and a representative from Dr. Morgan’s family.
