Brandon Stokley Has Concussion, Elvis Dumervil Could Return

Posted Dec 9, 2013

Head Coach John Harbaugh provided injury updates during his Monday press conference.

Veteran wide receiver Brandon Stokley suffered another injury during Sunday’s game against the Vikings, which could be “problematic” for the final three games of the regular season.

Stokley left the game with a concussion, and now he has to undergo testing to determine whether he will be able to return to the field.

“Stokley has a concussion, so he’ll go through the concussion protocol,” Head Coach John Harbaugh said during his Monday press conference. “We’ll have to see how that shakes out. Unfortunately, he’s had a number of those in his career, so that could be problematic for us. We’ll have to see in the next 24 hours or so.”

The 15-year veteran has dealt with a number of injuries this season, which have limited him to playing in just five games. He has 12 catches for 113 yards on the year.

The other injury news was positive for the Ravens, as Harbaugh said outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil could return for Monday’s game against the Detroit Lions. Dumervil suffered an ankle injury against the Steelers on Thanksgiving, and the Ravens decided to hold him out against Minnesota.

“I think Elvis has a chance for next week,” Harbaugh said. “He looks pretty good today. It’s kind of a bruise in his ankle, so we’ll just have to see where he’s at. I was hopeful for him this week, so I’ll be more hopeful for him next week.”

Getting Dumervil back is important for the Ravens’ pass rush, which has gone two straight games without notching a sack. Dumervil leads the team with 9.5 sacks on the year.
