Jacoby Jones Wins AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Posted Nov 14, 2012

Jones is the first player to ever notch two 105-yard touchdown returns.

Jacoby Jones may be doing another dance today.

He's been named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week after his 105-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against the Oakland Raiders.

Jones became the first player in NFL history to notch two kickoff returns of at least 105 yards in their career. He has two within the span of four games, including his 108-yarder against Dallas on Oct. 14.

The free-agent addition leads the NFL with 38.6 average yards per kickoff. He’s the only player in the league with two kickoff return touchdowns this season.

"Everybody should share in it,” Jones said Sunday. "That’s good for all of us. My guys did a heck of a job blocking. They take pride in it, and I certainly appreciate them for it. All I try to do is run fast and score.”

It’s the second time Jones has won the weekly award this season, and fifth time in his career. He won it twice in 2008 and once in 2009 while with Houston.

Head Coach John Harbaugh was asked on Monday whether Jones has the green light to return any kick.

"I would say no,” Harbaugh said before joking a bit. "Jacoby would probably tell you yes."
