Jah Reid Placed On Injured Reserve, Asa Jackson Activated

Posted Jan 11, 2013

The second-year lineman's season has been ended by a toe injury.

The Ravens placed left guard Jah Reid (toe) on injured reserve Friday, ending the season for the second-year lineman.

To take Reid’s place on the 53-man roster, the Ravens moved rookie cornerback Asa Jackson from the NFL’s exemption list that was granted after Jackson served a four-game suspension for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.

With Reid’s move to injured reserve, it appears that the Ravens will stick with the offensive line grouping they used last Sunday against the Colts. In that victory, the Ravens started Bryant McKinnie at left tackle, Kelechi Osemele at left guard and Michael Oher at right tackle.

The two consistent pieces at their positions this year have been Matt Birk at center and Marshal Yanda at right guard.

Reid had previously been the team’s left guard, starting the final seven games of the regular season. Reid practiced in a limited capacity leading up to the Colts game, but he was a scratch for that game and did not practice at all this week.

By getting moved to the active roster, Jackson’s roll will likely be as special teams contributor. He was on the 53-man roster all season before getting suspended and was active for three games. In the games that he did play, Jackson’s role was on coverage units, and he also provides additional depth in the return game.
