Jimmy Clausen Starting vs. Seahawks

Posted Dec 13, 2015

Tight end Crockett Gillmore is inactive, sending Konrad Reuland into action.

The Ravens are down to their third-string quarterback Sunday against the Seahawks and will be missing eight offensive starters.

Quarterback Jimmy Clausen will start instead of banged-up backup Matt Schaub, who is inactive.

Clausen will be making his first start since Sept. 27, which, oddly enough, was also against the Seahawks. Thus, Clausen will become just the sixth quarterback in league history to start against the same team as a member of two different squads in the same season.

In Week 3 against Seattle, Clausen completed 9 of 17 passes for 63 yards and the Bears punted on all 10 possessions.

The Ravens’ backup quarterback will be Bryn Renner, who was out of work at this time last week. The preseason feel-good-story was signed to the team’s practice squad last week before being activated to the 53-man roster Saturday.

Baltimore will also be without starting tight end Crockett Gillmore, who is inactive with a back injury. That means rookie Maxx Williams and Konrad Reuland will be Baltimore’s two tight ends. Richard Gordon, who was signed this week, is inactive.

The Ravens’ other inactives are wide receiver Marlon Brown (back), cornerback Tray Walker, defensive tackle Carl Davis and defensive end Kapron Lewis-Moore.

Wide receiver Chris Matthews is active against his former team. Matthews was one of the Seahawks’ stars of the game in Super Bowl XLIX last season, catching four passes for 109 yards and a touchdown. They were his first career catches.

The Ravens have six active wide receivers and only one of them was on the roster before Oct. 1.
