Joe Flacco, Torrey Smith Suffer Minor Ankle Injuries

Posted Sep 28, 2012

Ed Reed and Lardarius Webb also have lingering minor injuries that won’t hold them out.

Quarterback Joe Flacco and wide receiver Torrey Smith suffered minor ankle injuries in Thursday night’s 23-16 win over the Cleveland Browns.

Head Coach John Harbaugh said the injuries will not affect their playing status for next Sunday’s game in Kansas City on Oct. 7, however.

“Torrey has a right ankle sprain. I think he’ll be OK,” Harbaugh said. “We have nothing serious. Joe got a little ankle sprain.”

Flacco has yet to miss a game in his NFL career, a streak of 77 straight games. He did not seem to be hindered during the game, didn’t come out at any point and still threw for 356 yards.

Smith’s right ankle was also an issue during training camp and kept him out of one preseason game. He came gingerly to the sideline once during the second half Thursday night, but remained in the game and finished with six catches for 97 yards.

Harbaugh also said safety Ed Reed and cornerback Lardarius Webb are dealing with lingering hamstring and knee injuries, respectively. Reed’s hamstring stems from the Week 1 game against Cincinnati. Webb’s goes back to his rookie year.

“‘Webby’s’ OK,” Harbaugh said. “He’s always got his issue; you know he had an ACL [three] years ago, so that’s always part of the deal with him. And Ed Reed has done a great job with his hamstring, rehabbing-wise, but he’ll fight through that.

“All of those guys should be fine for next week.”
