John Harbaugh Addresses Michigan Rumors

Posted Sep 29, 2014

The Ravens head coach said that he's interested in 'Brady Hoke being the head coach at Michigan.'

Every time rumors start flying about the University of Michigan head coaching job, John Harbaugh’s name seems pop up in the discussion.

The future is uncertain for Michigan Head Coach Brady Hoke after the Wolverines opened the season 2-3, including lopsided home losses in back-to-back weeks to Utah and Minnesota.

Hoke is on the hot seat and Michigan is reportedly interested in luring Harbaugh to Ann Arbor. Harbaugh addressed the rumors during his press conference Monday.

“I’m interested in Brady Hoke being the head coach at Michigan for a long time to come,” Harbaugh said.

This isn’t the first time Harbaugh’s name has been connected to the Michigan job. Rumors started last year about Michigan making a change, and Harbaugh was the target candidate. Harbaugh does have a connection to the university, as his dad coached under legendary coach Bo Schembechler and his brother Jim was the team’s starting quarterback for three years.

But Harbaugh has never expressed interest in leaving Baltimore for Michigan, and this offseason he signed a contract extension with the Ravens that extends through the 2017 season.

“I don’t really know why [the rumors have started],” Harbaugh said. “Brady Hoke is a guy that we all believe in. The Harbaughs believe in Brady Hoke. He’s a great coach.

"He has done it everywhere he’s ever been. He believes in Michigan. I believe in what they’re doing there, and they’re going to get it turned around. The team should be galvanized right now, and I would expect them to come out like a bunch of wounded lions and go to work, because they love Brady and they love those coaches, and they just have to go."
