Justin Tucker Named Special Teams Player of the Week

Posted Nov 13, 2013

The Ravens kicker hit a game-winning 46-yard attempt in overtime against the Bengals.

Ravens kicker Justin Tucker was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 10.

Tucker hit the game-winning 46-yard attempt in overtime to beat the Bengals, 20-17. He did it despite swirling winds at his back inside M&T Bank Stadium, and capped a dramatic victory after Cincinnati tied the game on a Hail Mary.

It was Tucker’s fifth game-winning field goal of his young career. He also hit a 36-yard field goal earlier in the game.

Tucker hasn’t missed since Week 2 and is now 18-for-20 on the year (90 percent). He’s hit a career-best 16 straight kicks, which is the NFL’s third-longest active streak.

On Monday, Head Coach John Harbaugh was asked whether Tucker’s composure is unusual for a second-year kicker.

“I would have to say yes,” Harbaugh said. “He’s special that way.”

It’s the first weekly honor a Ravens player has received this season. Tucker is also a nominee for the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week and fans can vote here.
