Kapron Lewis-Moore Returning To Practice

Posted Nov 6, 2013

The rookie defensive end has been rehabbing an ACL tear since the start of the year.

Rookie defensive end Kapron Lewis-Moore will get his first NFL action Wednesday afternoon.

The former Notre Dame captain has been on the Ravens non-football injury list since the start of the year. He has up to three weeks to practice before he must be activated to the 53-man roster or released.

“I’m real excited to get out there,” Lewis-Moore said. “It’s been a while since I’ve been excited strapping on some pads. I’ve got to remember how to do that.”

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Lewis-Moore was selected by the Ravens in the sixth round (200th overall) of this year’s draft.

Lewis-Moore slid in the draft because he tore his ACL in the BCS National Championship Game as a senior. He’s been rehabbing at the Under Armour Performance Center throughout the summer and fall.

“My knee is really strong and healthy,” Lewis-Moore said. “There’s a lot of rust I’ve got to knock off, not being able to do anything for about 10 months. Just knock off the rust and get to work on my craft.”

After drafting Lewis-Moore, General Manager Ozzie Newsome said the rookie could be a late-season call-up to give the Ravens fresh legs. He can especially help considering the Ravens released Marcus Spears.

Before his season-ending injury in 2012, Lewis-Moore recorded 40 tackles (8.5 for loss), six sacks, and two forced fumbles. He led Irish defensive linemen in tackles in each of those two seasons. He plays both the three and five technique.
