Kenwood’s Andrew Goldbeck Named Ravens High School Coach of the Week

Posted Oct 2, 2013

Andrew Goldbeck, varsity head football coach of the Kenwood (Baltimore, Md.) Bluebirds, has been named the Ravens High School Coach of the Week. Goldbeck is the fourth recipient of the award in 2013.

After defeating Catonsville, 28-7, last Friday (9/27), the Bluebirds improved to 4-0 this season and equaled their win total from all of last year. With the game deadlocked, 7-7, entering the final frame, Kenwood scored 21 unanswered points to secure the victory behind scores from FB Dennis Harrell, WR Chrishawn Lewis and RB Tyshauwn Owens.

In just his first season with the Bluebirds, Goldbeck has brought a winning mentality to the program that dates back to his days as a standout signal caller at Calvert Hall and Towson University. In four games this season, Kenwood has allowed just one touchdown, earning decisive shutout victories in each of its first three contests. “One of our themes this year is ‘Winning Every Day,’” explained Goldbeck. “We’re not just focused on winning on the scoreboard – it’s about winning each and every day in the classroom and on the practice field.”

In a clash of area schools this Friday (10/4), Kenwood hosts the Milford Mill (Baltimore, Md.) Millers, who are led by the 2012 Ravens High School Coach of the Year, Reggie White.

Each week during the season, the Ravens will honor a high school coach who has made a significant impact on his student-athletes. Each winner will be in attendance at the Ravens-Vikings home game on Dec. 8 for an opportunity to be named the 2013 Ravens High School Coach of the Year.

Each weekly recipient receives:

  • A $2,000 donation to the school’s football program
  • An award certificate signed by Ravens head coach John Harbaugh
  • A specially-designed Coach of the Week hat
