Suggs Wins Twitter With Reaction To Patriots Loss
The New England Patriots were knocked out of the playoffs AND Tom Brady took more hits in the AFC championship than any quarterback took in any game all year?
Oh, ![]()
The Patriots quarterback couldn’t get into a rhythm all day after enduring a whopping 20 hits and four sacks by Denver’s ferocious pass rush. It was the most hits on a quarterback in a single game since 2006, when Cleveland's Charlie Frye was hit 20 times by, you guessed it, the Ravens.
Simply put, Von Miller and Co. made life hell for Brady, who spent the afternoon running for his life.
Suggs has never, ever … ever liked the Patriots or Brady. He’s made that pretty clear on a number of occasions.
And he won Twitter when he expressed his excitement just minutes after the Broncos’ 20-18 win.
WHAT A GREAT DAY!!!!!!!
— T.S STARK (@untouchablejay4) January 24, 2016 The only thing that would make Suggs happier is a healthy Achilles to knock Brady down himself. He’ll get that chance next season when the Ravens visit New England.
Until then, this will have to suffice.
Below is more Ravens’ reaction (from current and former players) to the Denver-New England game and the Carolina Panthers’ 49-15 pummeling of the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona quarterback Carson Palmer threw four interceptions.
Man is Carson point shaving ***!! Your team is in the RED ✔

— SB Nation (@SBNation) January 24, 2016 I was skeptical of moving the extra points back at first but I saw early this season how much it benefits the game. No meaningless plays.

— Torrey Smith (@TorreySmithWR) January 24, 2016 What Fax Machine Needs To Break For Ravens To Get Miller?
The Ravens already believe they can never have enough pass rushers.
Owner Steve Bisciotti said at the end of the season that Suggs’ injury was perhaps the worst injury the defense could have endured. It had a domino effect on the unit that took nearly half a season to figure out how to overcome.
But if a reminder was needed, the Broncos and Miller illustrated what a strong pass rush can do when he single-handedly notched 2.5 sacks, four hits and one interception on the Patriots’ future Hall of Fame quarterback.
#Ravens fans wondering why I'm so adamant about Baltimore acquiring a pass rusher in round 1 should look at the #Broncos defense
— Samuel Njoku (@Ravens_Examiner) January 24, 201 Miller is an unrestricted free agent after this season, and he could become the league’s highest-paid defender once all is said and done. For those wondering whether the Ravens could afford him, they’d have to do a lot of maneuvering to open cap space for a contract of that size. It’s not a signing they typically go after.
I guess you never know, though. Once upon a time, the Ravens got another Denver pass rusher, ![]()
What fax machine has to break to get Von Miller on the @Ravens ??
— JReynolds (@Birdland21) January 24, 2016 Why Didn’t Ravens Signs Freeney Over Babin?
Sticking with the pass-rush theme …
Watching the Cardinals’ Dwight Freeney make a solid impact in the playoffs, Ravens fans are wondering why Baltimore passed him up during the regular season when he was available. Instead, the front office signed Jason Babin, who played just 26 snaps in two games before getting released.
“I was told Dwight Freeney wanted too much money when the Ravens were looking at pass rushers in Week 2,” wrote ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. “Freeney eventually signed with the Cardinals in October for one-year, $870,000 plus $1 million in sack incentives. He has been a difference maker for Arizona, totaling eight sacks in 11 games. That means he has made an additional $600,000.
“The Ravens went with Jason Babin for the veteran minimum. But it's like that old saying: You get what you pay for.”
Steve Smith Not A Finalist For Walter Payton NFL Man Of Year Award
Judging by how much Ravens receiver Steve Smith Sr. promoted voting for theWalter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award on social media, I’d say he wanted the honor badly.
Unfortunately, the league announced Sunday that he was not among the finalists.
The award is given annually to honor a player's volunteer and charity work, as well as excellence on the field. Smith has been active in the community for years with The Steve Smith Family Foundation, including in 2015, when he hosted Holiday Helpers, partnered with the House of Ruth Maryland, went to Germany to host a football camp for children of active-duty and retired U.S. military members and visited wounded soldiers from a military operation in Afghanistan.
While Smith didn’t make the cut, another former Ravens receiver, Anquan Boldin, did.
I’m honored to be a finalist for the Walter Payton MOY Award. Thank you for each of you who has supported me and the Q81 Foundation.
