Doubt Him All You Want, But Flacco Climbing All-Time Wins List
Cameras lined the Under Armour Performance Center entrance yesterday hoping to catch a glimpse of player arrivals, including one hotly-debated quarterback, ![]()
Suddenly, the eight-year veteran emerged in a parking lot full of cars, and the cameras went crazy.

— Baltimore Ravens (@Ravens) July 29, 2015 “He's looking like Wolverine$ #XMen,” tweeted former Ravens wide receiver and current NFL analyst Qadry Ismail.
The hope is Flacco doesn’t just resemble Wolverine by growing a perfect full manly beard. Ravens fans also want to see Flacco carve up opposing defenses with his big arm and break 4,000 passing yards for the first time in his career.
Flacco doesn’t regularly put up fantasy football-type numbers, which is the source of much criticism. But that kind of stuff doesn’t matter to the Ravens’ franchise quarterback.
He just wants to win, and he’s one the NFL’s best at it.
Not only are Flacco’s 82 wins the most of any NFL quarterback since coming into the league in 2008 (Tom Brady is second with 81), but in just seven seasons, he’s already among the best in NFL history.
“Hate on him all you want, but Flacco keeps climbing on all-time wins list,” tweeted CSNBaltimore.com.
Flacco has cracked the top-50 of the all-time regular-season wins list with 72. And as CSN’s Clifton Brown pointed out, if Flacco can get 11 more this season, he will rocket up 16 spots on the list past plenty of recognizable names.
That could put him at No. 33 (depending on what active players achieve) with plenty of prime years ahead.
Here’s who he could potentially pass with 11 wins:
Randall Cunningham: 82 career wins
John Hadl: 82
Kerry Collins: 81
Bobby Layne: 81
Craig Morton: 81
Boomer Esiason: 80
Matt Hasselbeck: 80
Joe Ferguson: 79
Mark Brunell: 78
Y. A. Tittle: 78
Joe Theismann: 77
Rich Gannon: 76
Steve Grogan: 75
Tony Romo: 75
John Brodie: 74
Ron Jaworski: 73
Brett Favre is the all-time leader in regular-season wins (186) for quarterbacks, but his record is in jeopardy. Peyton Manning has a good chance to take the top spot, needing just eight wins this season.
Among active starting quarterbacks, Flacco ranks eighth in regular-season wins behind Manning (179), Tom Brady (160), Drew Brees (117), Ben Roethlisberger (106), Eli Manning (91), Philip Rivers (88) and Romo.
“There is persistent debate about where Flacco ranks as a quarterback, but winning is the stat he cares about most,” wrote Brown. “The closer Flacco gets to 100 career wins, the better his career resume looks.”
Hensley: Ravens Lack ‘Drama’ One Year Removed From Rice
Do you notice something different about his year’s start to training camp?
It’s … undramatic. Just the way you want it.
With 18 of 22 starters returning from a team that was close to beating the eventual Super Bowl champion and no off-the-field issues during the precarious summer break, the Ravens can focus on what’s most important: football.
“At this time last year, a horde of cameras greeted the Baltimore Ravens at training camp because of the Ray Rice scandal and question marks lingered at several starting positions,” wrote ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. “On Wednesday afternoon, the veterans report to a Ravens training camp that is lacking in – excuse my yawn – drama.”
“Unlike their AFC rivals in New England and Pittsburgh, the Ravens aren't dealing with suspensions or off-the-field issues. The biggest injury concern is ![]()
Suggs Takes High Road When Asked About Brady
Oh, how easy it could have been for ![]()
How easy it would have been to at least flash a smile when asked about the four-game suspension for his arch-nemesis from New England.
But Suggs didn’t take the bait when asked by reporters for his reaction to all the craziness surrounding the Patriots’ Tom Brady.
"You know what? All I can say is it’s fortunate that’s not a Baltimore Ravens problem, and we’re going to let them handle it and answer their questions," Suggs said.
The clear shot was there. Suggs chose not to pile on.
“Suggs took the high road,” wrote The Baltimore Sun’s Aaron Wilson. “Although Suggs had plenty of ammunition to criticize Brady … [Suggs] didn't revisit his previous criticism of the Super Bowl-winning quarterback.”
Instead, Suggs took plenty of questions about his conditioning, saying he dropped “a lot” of pounds but expects to use the heat of training camp to trim down even more.
“Terrell Suggs is definitely not in peak condition, he did look slightly better than the spring when he was noticeably heftier than usual,” tweeted Wilson.

Here’s another drama-free topic this season.
Nobody failed the conditioning test.
The Ravens didn't place any players on the non-football injury list or physically unable to perform list on report day, according to Wilson, which means they all passed and are cleared to practice.
Every year, it seems like somebody fails the brutal test. Bryant McKinnie, ![]()
“This was a day for veterans to check in and also take the conditioning test. One of the players that passed the test – everyone did – was Terrell Suggs,” Wilson said.
Only Suggs wouldn’t gloat about it. Why?
“I don’t want them to make it harder,” Suggs said with a laugh.
