Michael Oher, Bernard Pollard Among Pro Bowl Leaders

Posted Dec 20, 2012

With fan voting complete, six Ravens lead at their positions. Ray Rice is tenth in total voting.

Ravens fans showed that they want to see their players in Hawaii.

Six Ravens finished at the top of their position in AFC Pro Bowl fan voting, which accounts for one-third of the equation in determining who goes to the annual all-star game. Coaches and players make up the rest of the votes.

Baltimore’s six leaders (in order of total votes) are defensive tackle Haloti Ngata, offensive tackle Michael Oher, fullback Vonta Leach, kick returner Jacoby Jones, safety Ed Reed and safety Bernard Pollard.

Running back Ray Rice trails Houston’s Arian Foster as the top AFC running back by 264,840 votes, but Rice got the tenth-most fan votes of any NFL player. His 564,751 votes are the most of any Ravens player.

Ngata, Leach, Reed and Rice all went to the Pro Bowl last year.

It would be a first for Oher, Jones and Pollard if they get the support of coaches and players.

Oher has never missed a start in his career and moved back to left tackle this year after playing on the right side all of last season.

Jones has scored two touchdowns on kickoff returns this year (versus the Cowboys and Raiders). He leads the NFL with a 32.5-yard average.

Pollard has played through a rib injury all year, missing just one game last week versus Denver. His 98 tackles are the third-most in the NFL, and he has six pass deflections and one interception. Pollard’s built a reputation for being a big hitter on the back end of the Ravens defense.

The final announcement of the 2013 Pro Bowl teams, including starters, will be made next Wednesday, Dec. 26 on the NFL Network.
