Pernell McPhee Still Out For Ravens

Posted Nov 25, 2012

TE Dennis Pitta is up but CB Chris Johnson is scratched in San Diego.

The Ravens are still without defensive end Pernell McPhee.

McPhee, who was listed as questionable with a thigh injury, has been ruled out for the fourth straight game Sunday in San Diego. He hasn’t played since Oct. 21 in Houston.

On Friday, McPhee said he felt better about his chances to play, but it was still up in the air as to whether he would or not.

“I feel like I could go out and compete,” he said.

“But it’s all coach’s decision. He’s going to make the best decision. He knows where I’m at and I know where I’m at. If it boils down to it and I’m one of the guys that need to be out there Sunday, he knows the right decision to make.”

The Ravens will have the services of tight end Dennis Pitta one week after he left the game early due to concussion-like symptoms. Baltimore did activate third tight end Billy Bajema, however, to provide additional support.

Baltimore also scratched cornerbacks Jimmy Smith (sports hernia), Chris Johnson (hamstring), guard Bobbie Williams, guard/tackle Ramon Harewood, wide receiver Deonte Thompson and defensive tackle Bryan Hall.

Johnson was the team’s third cornerback last week in Pittsburgh. He will be likely replaced by Chykie Brown. Rookie cornerback Asa Jackson is activated for his first game this season and Anthony Levine is also up for Baltimore, providing additional support.

Williams was not listed on the injury report this week and is thus a healthy scratch. The Ravens continue to start Jah Reid at left guard.

The Chargers have scratched wide receiver Eddie Royal, linebacker Larry English, linebacker Jonas Mouton, tight end Dante Rosario, safety Brandon Taylor, running back Curtis Brinkley and starting left guard Tyronne Green.
