Ravens Cut Cornerback Danny Gorrer

Posted Sep 3, 2012

Cutting the third-year cornerback makes room for the recent signing of James Ihedigbo.

With a week to go before the start of the 2012 regular season, the Ravens are continuing to tweak their roster.

The team cut third-year cornerback Danny Gorrer on Monday, making room for the recent signing of veteran safety James Ihedigbo.

Gorrer took to Twitter to announce the news:

"24 hrs til I find out where my new home will be!!!! Hurt but thankful, never get comfortable cause we never no in this business!!!!”

"Damn it's funny how things in this business works out but man like I said God has a plan for us all... #blessed”

Veteran safety Bernard Pollard also reacted to the news on Monday during a press conference.

"It’s tough,” Pollard said. "Danny is my boy, but this is the business side of it. Anytime you think things are going well, things can change. We can’t control it.  One thing I’ve always been told from when I got in this league is ‘you can control the controllables,’ and that’s one thing that’s out of our hands.”

Gorrer, 26, spent the last two seasons with the Ravens. He played in 11 games last season, mostly on special teams, and finished the year with three tackles and four passes defended. He finished this preseason with one interception, five tackles and two passes defended.

Cutting Gorrer leaves the Ravens with six cornerbacks – Lardarius Webb, Cary Williams, Jimmy Smith, Corey Graham, Asa Jackson and Chykie Brown – on the active roster.
