Ravens Don't Offer Tenders To Marlon Brown, Brynden Trawick

Posted Mar 9, 2016

Browns’ production has dropped the past two seasons while Trawick led the special teams unit in tackles.

The Ravens did not offer restricted free-agent tenders to wide receiver Marlon Brown, safety Brynden Trawick or defensive tackle Micajah Reynolds.

Baltimore officially offered wide receiver Kamar Aiken a second-round tender and tight end Chase Ford a first-right-of-refusal tender.

The Ravens could still bring back Brown, Trawick or Reynolds, but they are free to hit the market.

After Brown had a breakout rookie season with 49 catches for 524 yards and seven touchdowns (tying a franchise rookie record), his production dipped each of the past two years.

The 6-foot-5 undrafted Georgia product hasn’t caught a touchdown pass since his 2013 rookie season. He posted just 14 catches for 112 yards last season as receivers such as Jeremy Butler, Chris Matthews and Daniel Brown all got more chances down the stretch.

Brown’s past two seasons have been hampered by injuries and he hadn’t taken the next step after showing much promise in his first season.

The Ravens currently have Steve Smith Sr., Breshad Perriman and Kamar Aiken as their top three receivers. Darren Waller, Michael Campanaro, Chuck Jacobs and Cam Worthy would be competing for a fourth spot and the big-bodied Waller is already in Brown’s mold.

Trawick was the Ravens’ leading special teams tackler last season, registering a team-high nine stops. He played in all 16 games and made a total of 15 tackles. The undrafted Troy product is heading into his fourth season and may still return.

Reynolds suffered an injury during training camp and never saw any action for the team.

Ford was signed off the Vikings practice squad last November and spent 13 days on the 53-man roster before being placed on injured reserve. The 6-foot-6 Miami (Fla.) product is entering his fourth season. His best year with the Vikings was in 2014 when he caught 23 passes for 258 yards and one touchdown.

Ford's tender is for $1.671 million and provides additional depth to a tight end corps dealing with a 10-game suspension of Nick Boyle and two shoulder surgeries on Crockett Gillmore.
