Ravens Friday Quotes: Week 13 vs. Steelers

Posted Nov 30, 2012

Includes John Harbaugh

Head Coach John Harbaugh

Opening statement: “Good to see everybody here. [It was a] good week. [There is] nothing really new to report on injuries. All of the guys are in the same statuses as they were earlier in the week. We’ll just see how they get to the game – how they get to Sunday. You’ll have the report by the end of the day here. I don’t think there is any dramatic news there. If there was, I would certainly share it with you. We had a good week of practice, and our guys are excited to play.”

Not asking about his injury, but Dannell [Ellerbe] had said maybe in his rookie year he didn’t study as much film or take as many notes as maybe he should have. Have you seen that increase in that aspect of his game in the last four years that he has been here? (Jason Butt) “Yes, all the guys do that. They all learn. They all figure out what to study. Sometimes they don’t know what to look at or what film to watch or how to watch tape. Hopefully, that is part of the process of learning. And, you do – you continue to learn. Not just in your first four years as a player – as a coach or a player – through the whole time. You feel like you get better every year with the football part of it. He has done a really good job with that, and he’s become a student of the game.”

When you have a team like the Steelers who use so many different running backs, what kind of challenges does that pose to a team who might just use one guy and maybe just spell a second guy occasionally? (Luke Jones) “It’s challenging in a sense that you have to be alert of who is in there. We are always aware of personnel. You know what personnel group is on the field. Now with the Steelers, you kind of need to be aware with what running back is in the game, because they are all somewhat different; they bring different things to the table. They run the same offense, but they run it in a different way, so we will have to be alert for that.”

As far as you know, is it just going down to the wire with [Ben] Roethlisberger? Do you expect to see him out there until you hear differently? Is that pretty much how you guys are approaching it? (Jeff Zrebiec) Yes, we just don’t know. I’m expecting to see Willis Reed come jogging down the tunnel. (laughing) That’s the expectation. And if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen. (laughter)  I tried it with the players. Most of them didn’t know Willis Reed, so it didn’t go over. It went over well with you guys.”
