Ravens Have Drafted NFL's Most Senior Bowlers Since 2010

Posted Jan 24, 2017

It's almost a guarantee that a future Raven will be at this week's Senior Bowl. Nearly half of Baltimore's draft class last year suited up for the game.

It’s almost a guarantee: there will be a future Raven at this year’s Senior Bowl.

The Ravens scouting department is flying to Mobile, Ala., for three days of practice beginning Tuesday and the annual all-star game on Saturday, which will feature many of the nation’s premier senior draft prospects.

The event is run by former Ravens Director of Player Personnel Phil Savage, and Baltimore has a history of finding value within.

Since 2010, no team has drafted more players that participated at the Senior Bowl. Last year, five of the Ravens’ 11 draft picks showcased their talents in Mobile: defensive end Bronson Kaufusi, cornerback Tavon Young, wide receiver Chris Moore, running back Kenneth Dixon and cornerback Maurice Canady.

In total, the Ravens has selected a whopping 28 players from the annual all-star game over the past seven drafts. The Philadelphia Eagles have drafted the second most (26).

Over the years, the Ravens have found gems such as defensive tackle Brandon Williams (2013), fullback Kyle Juszczyk (2013), tackle Rick Wagner (2013), tackle Kelechi Osemele (2012), outside linebacker Pernell McPhee (2011) and quarterback Joe Flacco (2008) at the Senior Bowl.

So who will it be this year?

Here are some interesting prospects to watch, and we will be highlighting many players, as well as talking to Ravens Assistant General Manager Eric DeCosta, Director of College Scouting Joe Hortiz, coaches and media members throughout the week.

  • CB Desmond King, Iowa
  • CB Tre’Davious White, LSU
  • WR: Artavis Scott, Clemson
  • WR Cooper Kupp, Eastern Washington
  • OLB Ryan Anderson, Alabama
  • TE O.J. Howard, Alabama
  • RB Donnel Pumphrey, San Diego State
  • OL Forrest Lamp, Western Kentucky
