Ravens Lose Lardarius Webb, Deonte Thompson To Injuries

Top cornerback Lardarius Webb left the game with a thigh injury and Deonte Thompson had a late concussion.


In addition to losing Sunday’s game to the Buffalo Bills, the Ravens also lost some key players to injury.

Franchise cornerback Lardarius Webb left the game in the second quarter with a thigh injury and he did not return.

“Webb had a little bit of a thigh strain, so we’ll see how that is tomorrow,” Head Coach John Harbaugh said after the game.

Webb is the team’s No. 1 cornerback, and after he left the game, the defense turned to veteran Corey Graham to take over his role. Graham got beat on a 42-yard touchdown pass to Robert Woods shortly after Webb went down, but he did settle in and ended up with an interception in the second half. Graham has plenty of starting experience, as he started last season after Webb went down with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

In addition to the injury to Webb, the Ravens also lost second-year receiver Deonte Thompson to a concussion near the end of the game. Thompson caught a much-need, 33-yard pass down the sidelines late in the fourth quarter, but was hit helmet-to-helmet by Bills safety Jim Leonhard. The hit knocked Thompson out of the game and he did not return.

Sunday was Thompson’s first game of the season after suffering a foot injury in the preseason opener.

The Ravens also lost starting receiver Marlon Brown to a thigh injury.

“We’ll see how that is tomorrow,” Harbaugh said.

Brown and Thompson join a banged up receiving corps, as Jacoby Jones (knee) and Brandon Stokley (groin) also missed Sunday’s game because of injuries. Right now the Ravens’ only healthy wide receivers are No. 1 target Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss

The only other injury Harbaugh mentioned Sunday was a shoulder injury to reserve linebacker Albert McClellan, who will get an MRI Monday.
