Ravens Make Two Coaching Moves

Posted Mar 19, 2014

Chris Hewitt has moved to assistant secondary coach and Ravens hired a cross-training specialist.

The Ravens officially made two coaching moves Wednesday afternoon.

Chris Hewitt will become the assistant secondary coach and the team has hired a new cross-training specialist, Billy DeLorbe.

Hewitt spent the past two years as the Ravens’ assistant special teams coach, helping Associate Head Coach/Special Teams Coordinator Jerry Rosburg. Hewitt will now work along with new Assistant Head Coach/Secondary Coach Steve Spagnuolo.

Hewitt brings experience as an NFL player to the Ravens secondary, and continues a staff trend of getting former players coaching at their NFL positions.

He was a defensive back for three years with the New Orleans Saints, starting four games and playing in 39. The former undrafted free agent out of Cincinnati totaled 29 tackles, three sacks, one pass defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Prior to his Baltimore arrival, Hewitt served in various coaching capacities for Rutgers University, most recently as running backs coach (2010-11). Hewitt also spent time as the Scarlet Knights’ cornerbacks coach (2008-09)

DeLorbe is entering his first year in the NFL. He spent the past 10 years as a master personal trainer at the Maryland Athletic Club. As a cross-training specialist, DeLorbe will focus on boosting players’ flexibility and mobility with an emphasis on core strengthening and improved balance.

DeLorbe adds another dimension to the training staff, joining Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Bob Rogucki and Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach Juney Barnett.
