The Ravens have signed the ‘Hard Knocks’ favorite to their practice squad after he was released by the Houston Texans during their final cuts.
Baltimore released tight end Konrad Reuland to make room for James. The Ravens had already added tight end
The 5-foot-9, 179-pound James played in 12 games with the New York Giants in 2013, making four tackles. He didn’t see any action last season, but had a strong preseason this summer, making 15 tackles over the Texans’ final three preseason games.
The Texans let him go because they’re set at cornerback with Kareem Jackson, Johnathan Joseph, Kevin Johnson, A.J. Bouye, Jumal Rolle and Darryl Morris.
"He's a feisty guy," Head Coach John Harbaugh said. "He covers tight. He’s also a return guy. He played really well on special teams for the Giants and for the Texans, and we’ll see how he does. He’s going to come out here, and he’s going to get on the practice squad and compete and see what kind of player we have."
James started his Ravens career by showing off his latest socks in the locker room.
"[I] love his personality," Harbaugh said. "He told me he left his socks at home, but then I saw some socks in the locker room I didn’t recognize, so we’ll see.”
