Ray Lewis Not Moved To Active Roster, Won’t Play vs. Denver

Posted Dec 15, 2012

The veteran linebacker will not be able to play in Sunday’s game against the Broncos.

Ray Lewis’ comeback will have to wait for at least another week.

The veteran linebacker was not moved to the active roster Saturday, meaning that he will not be able to play in Sunday’s game against the Broncos.

This was the first game where Lewis was eligible to return after getting placed on injured reserve-designated to return list back in Week 7. He had reportedly targeted the game against Denver as  a return date.

Lewis has practiced for the last two weeks, but it’s unknown whether he was a full or limited participant. Lewis doesn’t have to be listed on the injury report since he’s not on the active roster.

With Lewis out for Sunday, the Ravens will continue to be thin at inside linebacker. Jameel McClain has also been ruled out for the game because of a neck injury and Dannell Ellerbe’s status is uncertain because of an ankle injury.

If Ellerbe is unable to play, then the Ravens will likely start Brendon Ayanbadejo and Josh Bynes at inside linebacker. Albert McClellan could also slide inside to give the Ravens some additional depth.
