Reports: Ravens Re-Sign Safety Jeromy Miles

Posted Mar 13, 2014

Jeromy Miles is a strong special teams player who could play more on defense.

The Ravens have re-signed safety Jeromy Miles to a one-year deal, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Miles, 26, is a strong special teams player who has a chance to do more on defense this upcoming season, particularly if the Ravens don’t bring back free agent James Ihedigbo.

The Ravens claimed Miles off waivers on Sept. 24 last year after the Cincinnati Bengals surprisingly released him. Miles played in 12 games for Baltimore and made nine tackles.

Miles is going into his fifth NFL season. He played in all 16 games for the Bengals in 2012, including one start, and 2011. He’s a 6-foot-2, 214-pound strong safety who also has the flexibility to drop back in coverage.

Adding Miles would help bolster a safety corps that officially has just first-round pick Matt Elam on the roster as of right now. Exclusive rights free agents Omar Brown, Anthony Levine and Brynden Trawick have been reportedly offered tenders.

The Ravens are still expected to make other moves, specifically to add a starting free safety.
