Reports: Tommy Streeter Headed To Injured Reserve

Posted Aug 31, 2012

A sprained foot will essentially give the rookie wide receiver a redshirt season.

Tommy Streeter will essentially get a redshirt season.

The sixth-round rookie wide receiver is headed to injured reserve.

That means he will not play this season, but is still a member of the team and thus protected from other teams trying to sign him.

“You come here to play. So to not have that opportunity, it’s heartbreaking,” Streeter said.

“But at the same time, I can’t do nothing but trust God and the process. I’m going to make the most of each day and get better.”

Streeter suffered a foot injury sometime during or after the third preseason game last Thursday. He did not practice last week or play in the preseason finale.

The 6-foot-5, 220-pounder with loads of upside saw limited action in the preseason. He caught two passes for 40 yards, including a 33-yard touchdown, against Jacksonville.

Streeter's move to injured reserve opens up more room for a wide recevier such as undrafted rookie free agent Deonte Thompson or veteran journeyman Logan Payne.

It was previously believed that the Ravens may have to choose one of the three if they were going to keep six wide receivers. Putting Streeter on injured reserve would allow the Ravens to maintain Streeter's upside while keeping another wideout.

Thompson shined Thursday night versus the Rams, catching six passes for 68 yards. Payne caught five passes for 58 yards.
