Steve Bisciotti Plans to Own Ravens for 'Foreseeable Future'

Posted Feb 7, 2018

Steve Bisciotti has been Baltimore's majority owner since the 2004 season, and he expects to stay in his position for years to come.

As Steve Bisciotti looks ahead to the future of the Baltimore Ravens, he sees himself in the driver’s seat for years to come.

Bisciotti was asked during his season-review press conference last week about his passion and interest in owning the Ravens, and he indicated that he has no plans to sell the team anytime soon.

“I am very comfortable where I am,” he said. “I am here for the foreseeable future.”

Bisciotti, 57, is one of the youngest owners in the NFL. He initially bought a minority stake in the team from Art Modell in 2000, and then become the majority owner before the 2004 season.

The value of the Ravens has grown tremendously during his 18 years as an owner, and the franchise was valued at $2.5 billion last year by Forbes. He reportedly bought it for $600 million.

Bisciotti is a Maryland native who grew up a football fan rooting for the Baltimore Colts. He has said in the past that he considers selling the team after tough losses, and often references that he sees himself as a fan of the team.

Bisciotti has continued to make major investments into the team during his time as owner. The Ravens are in midst of a $120 million renovation project at M&T Bank Stadium, and the Under Armour Performance Center is undergoing a massive construction project topping $40 million. The team also spends to the salary-cap limit every season.

“My passion is still there,” Bisciotti said. “My fans lose their enthusiasm for it, right? I hate losing, and my fans hate losing. They get angry and say things they shouldn’t, and I get angry and say things that I shouldn’t, too. Luckily, I don’t do it in front of the microphone, usually. No, I have not changed.”
