Steve Smith, Justin Forsett Both Active vs. 49ers

Posted Oct 18, 2015

Outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil and right guard Marshal Yanda are also active. Webb is out.

The Ravens got some good news during pre-game warmups Sunday.

Baltimore will have wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. (back), running back Justin Forsett (ankle) and outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil (groin) in the lineup. Pro Bowl right guard Marshal Yanda is also active after missing practice time with an [ADD] ankle injury, and tight end Crockett Gillmore will return after missing two games with a strained calf.

All of them were questionable to play entering the matchup at Levi’s Stadium.

The most significant absence for the Ravens is cornerback Lardarius Webb, who is out with a thigh injury. He was considered a long-shot to play after leaving last week’s game and missing the entire week of practice.

The other inactives are wide receivers Darren Waller (concussion) and Breshad Perriman (knee), safety Terrence Brooks (thumb), defensive end Chris Canty (calf), offensive lineman Ryan Jensen and running back Raheem Mostert.

The fact that Smith is playing is a testament to the 36-year-old’s toughness. He’s putting his “Hall of Fame pain tolerance” to the test by taking the field just two weeks after suffering microfractures in his back against the Steelers.

Smith said Friday that his expectations to play were “very low,” but he has decided to gut it out for the critical Week 6 matchup.

Forsett is playing after he went down last week against the Browns. He didn’t practice Wednesday or Thursday, but returned as a limited participant Friday. His status looked like it might be in doubt Saturday when the Ravens promoted practice squad running back Terrence Magee to the active roster, but Forsett decided he was able to play after going through pre-game warmups.

Dumervil also tested out his groin during pre-game warmups before getting activated. The veteran defender is Baltimore’s top pass rusher, and his availability will be critical as the Ravens look to keep mobile quarterback Colin Kaepernick from hurting them with his feet.

The other notable active player for Baltimore is cornerback Shareece Wright. He signed with the Ravens Monday and could play a critical role because he is one of four healthy cornerbacks. Asa Jackson is also active after getting promoted from the practice squad this week.

For the 49ers, their most significant inactive is veteran running back Reggie Bush. Their other  inactives are wide receiver Bruce Ellington, linebacker Gerald Hodges, offensive linemen Brandon Thomas and Ian Silberman, nose tackle Mike Purcell and linebacker Corey Lemonier.
