The Caw: Justin Tucker Crowned NFL's MVP ... Most Valuable Performer

Posted Jan 26, 2018

The rest of the country saw what Ravens fans have known for a while. Justin Tucker is crazy talented at way more than just kicking a football. Tucker won the CBS talent show with his rendition of ‘Ave Maria,’ and will donate his $50,000 prize to the Baltimore School of the Arts.

The rest of the country has now seen what Ravens fans have known for a long time.

Justin Tucker is crazy talented at way more than just kicking a football.

Tucker was named the first-ever NFL MVP … Most Valuable Performer … Thursday night on a one-hour talent show special on CBS. Tucker broke out his opera singing of “Ave Maria.”

A three-judge panel, including wide receiver Brandon Marshall, actress/singer Katharine McPhee and actor Max Jabrani, made Tucker one of the three finalists and fans crowned him the winner by voting on CBS.com.

Tucker won $50,000 to donate to the charity of his choice and he selected the Baltimore School of the Arts.

Many Ravens fans have already heard Tucker sing Luciano Pavorotti’s “Ave Maria” before, but it’s breathtaking every time and was absolutely beautiful Thursday night in front of the biggest audience he’s ever performed for (outside of football).

Tucker beat out five other NFL players who were voted as finalists, including a pair of teammates in Ravens running back Alex Collins (Irish dancing) and defensive tackle Brandon Williams (singing).

Broncos defensive tackle Domata Peko (singing), Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart (piano) and Browns guard Kevin Zeitler (dog tricks) were the other challengers.

Check out Tucker's winning performance:

Stewart made the finals by playing Adele’s ‘Hello,’ on the piano, but he couldn’t measure up to Tucker.

What’s crazy is the NFL’s most accurate kicker of all-time has several other talents (impersonations, trumpet, etc.) that he also could have performed.

While we won’t disagree with him being the winner, his teammates should have been in the finals. Even former Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata reached out to Williams after the show.
