Who's Playing, Who's Not vs. Browns

Posted Sep 13, 2013

Michael Oher (ankle) is probable, while Bernard Pierce and Arthur Jones are questionable.

Oher Probable After Week of Practice

Michael Oher looks like he will continue his streak of never missing an NFL start.

The fifth-year tackle has started every game of his professional career, and he’s probable to play Sunday against the Browns despite an ankle injury. Oher was a full participant in practice all three days this week.

”I should be out there,” Oher told reporters on Friday. “I work extremely hard in the offseason and in practice every day just trying to be there for the team and just trying to make sure I’m helping everybody out.”

Oher suffered the injury in the preseason opener against Denver when right guard Marshal Yanda fell into his leg. Oher left the game and did not return, and this week he said the ankle sprain was the worst he’s had in his career.

“I’ve just been getting a ton of treatment,” Oher said. “It definitely helped playing on a Thursday to get those extra days of rest. That helped tremendously.”

Pierce, Jones Both Questionable

Running back Bernard Pierce (thigh) and defensive lineman Arthur Jones (illness) are both questionable after being limited in practice all week.

Jones missed last week after doctors discovered in the preseason that he had an illness that caused his heartbeat to change. Jones initially feared the issue could be career threatening, but he was medically cleared for practice this week and he described himself as a “game-time decision.”

One of the initial issues after he returned to practice was how he would get back into football condition after a couple of weeks off, but that does not appear to be a concern.

“He didn’t get too out of shape,” Head Coach John Harbaugh said. “He’s progressing well. We’ll just have to see how he feels on Sunday.”

Pierce said that he “feels good” after doing limited work in practice, and he talked about wanting to establish the running game this week against Cleveland.

“We’re definitely trying to get the running game started,” Pierce said. “Since it is a division game we’re going to expect their best, and it’s going to be a hard-nosed, smash-mouth game.

Thompson Doubtful Again

Wide receiver Deonte Thompson (foot) did not practice at all this week and he is listed as doubtful on the final injury report. Center Ryan Jensen (foot) and defensive tackle Brandon Williams (toe) also missed the entire week of practice and are doubtful.

Thompson told reporters this week that he is “real close” to returning to the field after getting hurt in the first preseason game. If he is not able to play Sunday, the Ravens will have just four healthy wide receivers.

Wide receiver Jacoby Jones was ruled out Monday after suffering a sprained knee against Denver.

Mingo Probable To Make Debut

Browns rookie first-round pick Barkevious Mingo looks like he’s going to make his NFL debut after suffering a bruised lung during the preseason. The linebacker was a full participant in practice Thursday and Friday and is probable for Sunday.

Starting cornerback Buster Skrine (shoulder) is also probable to play.

Safety T.J. Ward (shoulder) and wide receiver Travis Benjamin (thigh) are both questionable, and starting defensive lineman Ahtyba Rubin (calf) is doubtful.

Starting right guard Shawn Lauvao (ankle) has been ruled out, meaning former Raven Oniel Cousins is likely to start in his place.
