Who's Playing, Who's Not vs. Cardinals

Posted Oct 24, 2015

Kendrick Lewis and Lardarius Webb are questionable. Maxx Williams is out.

The Ravens have some key players nursing injuries heading into Monday’s matchup with the Arizona Cardinals.

Baltimore had 11 players listed on this week’s injury report, with the secondary the hardest hit.

Key Defensive Backs Hobbled

The Ravens had four defensive backs listed on this week’s injury report, including starting free safety Kendrick Lewis (knee) and cornerback Lardarius Webb (thigh).

Lewis and Webb are both also questionable to play.

Webb missed last week’s game because of the injury, but indicated to reporters Friday that he’s optimistic about suiting up against Arizona. He was limited in practice all week.

“I’m very eager to play, to be back on the field with the boys,” Webb said. “It will feel good to be out there. I needed that week [of rest]. I didn’t want to [sit]. San Francisco was a big game for us, and we kind of let it go. But we have to get back.”

Lewis is questionable after going down with the knee injury last week against the 49ers. He avoided a major injury, and returned to practice Saturday after resting earlier in the week.

His backup, Terrence Brooks, is also dealing with an injury of his own. Brooks has been ruled out after reportedly having surgery on his thumb. He also missed last week’s game.

With the injuries to Lewis and Brooks, third-year safety Brynden Trawick could be in line for the first start of his career. Anthony Levine is the other safety who could see some more defensive snaps this week because of the injuries.

Reserve corner Asa Jackson (thigh) is the other defensive back nursing an injury, as he’s questionable to play after missing practice time this week.

Canty Probable After Returning To Practice

Veteran defensive end Chris Canty drew a round of applause from his teammates this week when he returned to practice Thursday, but he was sidelined again Friday. He is officially listed as probable after practicing again Saturday with a strained calf.

Canty has missed four straight games because of the injury.

His replacement Lawrence Guy has made the most of his opportunity in Canty’s absence. He has three sacks through the last two games, and leads the Ravens in that category.

Guy's emergence could allow the Ravens to ease Canty back into the mix.

Rookie TE Williams Ruled Out

The Ravens top draft pick Breshad Perriman will miss another game with his knee injury, and now second-round pick Maxx Williams (knee/ankle) has an injury as well.

The tight end did not practice this week and he is officially ruled out.

Williams has 12 catches for 108 yards this year, and he is the team’s No. 2 tight end behind Crockett Gillmore.

Fellow rookie Nick Boyle is next in line behind Williams, and he has played well this season. The Delaware product has eight catches for 58 yards, and he has plenty of experience from when Gillmore missed two games earlier this year.

Yanda Probable After Missing Practice Time

Right guard Marshal Yanda is officially listed as probable after missing practice time this week with an ankle injury.

But nobody really expects the All-Pro offensive lineman to miss this week’s game after he played through the injury last week.

He is known as one of the toughest players in the league, which is clearly evident from his story of voluntarily getting tased that he shared on Ravens Report this week.

The other notable player on the injury report is rookie receiver Darren Waller, who is probable to play after missing last week with a concussion.

Starting wide receiver Steve Smith (back) and running back Justin Forsett (ankle) both weren't listed on the injury report this week, meaning they were full participants in practice and are in line to play.
