Who's Playing, Who's Not vs. Chiefs

Posted Dec 18, 2015

Quarterback situation still uncertain. Marshal Yanda returns to practice and probable to play.

Starting Quarterback Up In The Air
A reporter opened Head Coach John Harbaugh’s press conference Friday by telling him that the media had a running wager on whether he would actually announce who the starting quarterback would be Sunday against Kansas City.

“There are probably high odds in one direction,” Harbaugh joked.

Not one to typically volunteer injury information, Harbaugh played his cards close to the vest and didn’t give any hints about who will get the start.

“I’m probably not going to name a quarterback today,” he said. “That’s probably all I have to say on the matter.”

Matt Schaub (chest) is still banged up from all the hits he took in the Week 13 loss to Miami, and Jimmy Clausen started in his place last week against Seattle. Schaub returned to practice this week and is officially listed as probable on the final injury report.

“He looked good,” Harbaugh said about Schaub. “I won’t say he’s 100 percent, but by Sunday he has a chance to be 100 percent. He looked good. He’s a tough guy. He worked hard this week.”

Schaub was a limited participant Wednesday, but practiced fully Thursday and Friday. The Ravens gave Clausen the bulk of the reps earlier in the week and he could be in line for his second start with the Ravens.

Baltimore also added Ryan Mallett to the mix on Tuesday, but he’s unlikely to start less than a week after joining the team.

Gillmore Ruled Out, Three Others Doubtful

The only player officially ruled out of Sunday’s game is starting tight end Crockett Gillmore.

Ruling out Gillmore comes as no surprise because he hasn’t even practiced in two weeks, and Harbaugh said earlier this week he is a candidate for injured reserve.

“It’s not looking good for Crockett right now,” Harbaugh said Wednesday.

The Ravens have three other players who are doubtful to play. Cornerback Kyle Arrington (back), outside linebacker Albert McClellan (ankle) and wide receiver Marlon Brown (back) are all doubtful after missing the entire week of practice.

If Brown is out, this will be the fourth-straight missed game because of the back injury.

Yanda Returns To Practice, West Listed As Questionable

All-Pro right guard Marshal Yanda returned to the practice field Friday after missing the previous two days with an ankle injury. He is officially listed as probable on the injury report.

Yanda rarely misses a game, and the time off earlier in the week will likely have him ready to go Sunday. Left tackle Kelechi Osemele (knee) is also probable to play.

The only other injury question for the Ravens is the status of backup running back Terrance West. He appeared on the injury report on Thursday with a calf injury, and he then sat out Friday’s practice. He is questionable to play.

If West is out, the Ravens will have rookie Terrence Magee as the backup behind fourth-round pick Buck Allen.
