Who's Playing, Who's Not vs. Washington Redskins

Ronnie Stanley doubtful to play. Alex Lewis could see action at left tackle. Rookie Kenneth Dixon expected to make debut.

Ronnie Stanley Doubtful To Play, Lewis Could Play Tackle

Rookie left tackle Ronnie Stanley is in danger of missing his second-straight game with a foot issue.

The No. 6 overall pick didn’t practice at all this week and is officially listed as doubtful to play. Stanley has not practiced at all the last two weeks.

“It’s definitely precautionary,” Stanley told reporters Thursday. “The team is definitely looking at this in a cautious manner. It’s definitely left up to the head coach.”

Stanley was not wearing a walking boot when he talked with reporters in the locker room this week, and he said that the final decision on his status will likely wait until Sunday morning.

“Coach knows I want to play, and this is definitely a decision left up to him,” Stanley said. “We’ve been in constant communication, so it’s not going to be a surprise to me whether he chooses for me to play or not.”

If Stanley is out, the Ravens may give fellow rookie Alex Lewis a chance at left tackle. James Hurst started at left tackle last week and struggled against the Raiders pass rush, and the Ravens gave Lewis a look at left tackle during the preseason before he won the starting left guard spot.

Lewis, a fourth-round pick, started at left tackle the last two years at Nebraska.

“I’ve played [left tackle] a bunch throughout my career,” Lewis said. “I just consider the O-line one position, and I’ll go wherever the coaches need me. I’m comfortable across the board, and I enjoy it.”

Offensive Coordinator Marc Trestman expressed confidence in Lewis if the team gives him the start this weekend.

“Alex has his feet wet, in terms of playing a couple games,” Trestman said. “We have seen him play outside; we are good with that.”

Kenneth Dixon Expected To Make Debut

In addition to the change on the offensive line, the Ravens will also likely have a new option in the backfield this week.

Rookie running back Kenneth Dixon was a full participant in practice all week, and is expected to make his debut after missing the first four games with a knee injury. He is officially listed as questionable.

“He is healthy now, and he is going to get a chance to play and to see if he can springboard a very good preseason into a good start this week,” Trestman said. “We will see what happens when he starts his first game and plays in his first game. We see that he can get you more on our run. He has moved the pile.  He has shown that he can extend plays. He has shown that he has the ability to catch the football.”

Getting Dixon healthy was one of the reasons the Ravens parted with veteran Justin Forsett this week. The Ravens have high hopes for the fourth-round pick, and he will push starter Terrance West for carries.

Devin Hester Questionable To Play

Return man Devin Hester is questionable to play because of thigh injury.

He missed the first two days of practice and returned as a limited participant Friday. He also dealt with the thigh issue last week, but was able to play.

If he misses the game, the Ravens will be in a bit of a bind at returner. West and Dixon both worked as kickoff returners in the preseason, and the punt returner options include Ladarius Webb and Chris Moore.

The only other player listed on the injury report is reserve cornerback Sheldon Price (thigh), who is questionable to play.

Redskins Rule Out Four Players

The Redskins are dealing with a handful of injury concerns of their own, as they ruled out starting cornerback Bashaud Breeland (ankle) and reserve corner Dashaun Phillips (hamstring).

Wide receiver Josh Doctson (Achilles) and safety Su’a Cravens (concussion) have also been ruled out.

Starting linebacker Ryan Kerringan (elbow) and guard Shawn Lauvao (ankle) are both listed as questionable to play.
