Who's Practicing, Who's Not vs. Jaguars

Posted Nov 11, 2015

Monroe returns after missing last game. Zuttah and Perriman only players sidelined.

The bye week has helped the Ravens on the health front.

After having a week off between practices, the Ravens had nearly the entire squad back on the field Wednesday as they dove into preparation for this week’s matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Ravens had just two players missing because of injury.

Monroe Returns, Zuttah Rests

Left tackle Eugene Monroe missed the matchup with San Diego because of a shoulder injury, but he was back on the field Wednesday as a full participant. Starting center Jeremy Zuttah (shoulder) did not practice, but the Ravens hope he returns later this week.

Getting Monroe back is significant for the offensive line, as his replacement, James Hurst, has struggled in his absence. Monroe has missed four games this year for various injuries, and the Ravens want him protecting quarterback Joe Flacco’s blindside.

“He’s a great athlete, and he’s a smart player, and he knows how to play,” Head Coach John Harbaugh said about Monroe. “Obviously, the injuries for him have been most frustrating, because it’s hard to get into a rhythm when you’re not playing week-after-week. And then you get out there and something gets nicked up, and you’re out for another week or two, and you have to restart again.”

Zuttah’s injury also has the potential to be significant if he’s unable to play Sunday. Harbaugh said the Ravens are “hoping” Zuttah returns to practice on Thursday or Friday, which would be a good sign about his availability for the weekend.

Zuttah’s backup is John Urschel, who struggled with the shotgun snaps against San Diego. Flacco and Urschel have spent extra practice time working on their snaps this week to avoid similar issues.

Perriman Still Out

First-round pick Breshad Perriman continues to miss practice because of a lingering knee injury.

Another week without Perriman on the practice field is a sign that he won’t play again this week, and Harbaugh acknowledged earlier this week that the Ravens will discuss whether to place him on season-ending injured reserve.

“The clock is ticking,” Harbaugh said. “I think that’s a conversation that the doctors and [General Manager] Ozzie [Newsome] need to have, and we need to make a determination on that real soon.”

The only other injury note for the Ravens was that tight end Crockett Gillmore was limited in practice with a shoulder injury. Cornerback Tray Walker fully practiced after suffering a concussion.

Jaguars’ Receivers Banged Up

Jacksonville is dealing with some injury concerns at wide receiver, as starter Allen Hurns (foot/thigh) didn’t practice, and reserve Marqise Lee (hamstring) was limited.

Lee has only played in two games this year, but he has great speed and Jaguars Head Coach Gus Bradley indicated he may return Sunday.

“We’ll see how this week goes with him,” Bradley said. “We’ll go out there today, and he’ll get some opportunities. Marqise Lee is a highly-competitive guy, and he has had these injuries that have lingered on. The downside of it is that we haven’t had many practices with him, but hopefully this week he takes another big step.”

The other injury concerns for Jacksonville are defensive tackle Michael Bennett (hamstring) and linebacker Dan Skuta (groin), who both didn’t practice.
