Marshal Yanda Injury Concerns Eased

Posted Aug 28, 2012

Cam Cameron said Pro Bowl guard Marshal Yanda will 'absolutely' play in Week 1.

Pro Bowl guard Marshal Yanda was missing from practice again Tuesday, and has now been out for more than a week.

But Head Coach John Harbaugh, and now Offensive Coordinator Cam Cameron, have eased concerns that it isn’t anything major.

Cameron was asked whether Yanda will be ready for the Monday Night Football opener on Sept. 10.

“Absolutely. Absolutely,” Cameron said. “Until I’m told differently, we’ll be ready for Marshal to play.”

Yanda was hit in the leg when linebacker Chavis Williams was blocked into him Monday of last week. The guard went down to the turf, and was pulled out of practice.

Harbaugh said he would describe Yanda’s injury as a strain.

“It's nothing serious,” Harbaugh said on Saturday. “He could have played in [last Thursday’s] game if it had been a regular-season game.”

Yanda has played through much more serious injuries, including days after undergoing emergency surgery on his leg last season. He then returned to face the Bengals in Week 17, and is now rallying to face Cincinnati this year.
