Biography

MATT WEISS is in his 12th year with the Ravens and his second as the team's running backs coach. In 2019, the Ravens posted the best offensive campaign in team history and their second-straight AFC North title, helping the team to a franchise-best 14-2 record. Baltimore running backs contributed to a No. 1-ranked rushing attack (206.0 ypg) and scoring unit (33.2 ppg). The offense also finished No. 2 in total yards (407.6) per game and set a new NFL single-season rushing record (3,296), besting the 1978 Patriots (3,165). Baltimore became the first team ever to average 200 passing and 200 rushing yards per game in a season. The 2019 Ravens also set season team records for TDs (64), points (531), net yards (6,521), rushing yards (3,296), first downs (386) and fewest turnovers (15). RB Mark Ingram II led the RB unit, posting 15 total TDs (tying a Ravens' single-season team record and fourth best in NFL in '19) and rushed for 1,018 yards. RBs Gus Edwards (711 yards, 2 TDs) and Justice Hill (225 yards, 2 TDs) also made solid contributions to the top-ranked run game. In the last four seasons coaching on offense, Weiss has assisted with the quarterbacks (2016-17) and the wide receivers (2018) before becoming the team's running backs coach in 2019.
