2021 Ravens Cheerleader Tryouts

As we continue to navigate the unknown in 2021, Ravens Cheerleader Tryouts will look different than any other year. While all plans are subject to change, the current plan is the following structure:

Round 1 – Registration and Video Submission

As of Tuesday, April 13th, 2021 Ravens Cheerleader Tryouts are now CLOSED. We are no longer taking submissions for the upcoming season.

To be considered for the 2021 team, you must fill out an application in its entirety by Monday, April 12th at 11:59pm EST.

Round 2 – Zoom Interviews

Once Round 1 submissions have been evaluated, results will be sent to applicants via email on who will advance to the second round of tryouts. Round 2 of tryouts will be 15-minute virtual interviews via Zoom with the Cheerleader coaching staff and members of the Ravens front office.

Round 3 – Final Tryout

Following Zoom interviews, results will be sent to applicants via email on who will advance to the final round of tryouts. Ideally, the coaches would like to host an in-person final tryout once deemed safe to do so. Information regarding the final tryout will be released to the remaining applicants via email. Protocols will be in place to ensure the safety of all participants throughout the final in-person tryout.

2021 Tryout Frequently Asked Questions

What will 2021 Ravens Cheerleader Tryouts look like?

2021 tryouts will be different than any other year. While all plans are subject to change, the current plan is the following structure:

Interest form – we recommend the first step to trying out is filling out our interest form here. This will guarantee that you are notified of all tryout updates as soon as information is available.

Round 1 – Registration and Video Submission

Once Round 1 of tryouts has opened, anyone on the interest form will be notified.

Applicants will be asked to fill out an online form, which will include the following:

  • Updated resume
  • Headshot photo
  • Full body photo in swimwear or two-piece athletic wear
  • Tryout video submission- information will be released on video specs when Round 1 is open

Round 2 – Zoom Interviews

Applicants who advance from Round 1 of tryouts will take part in a virtual interview via Zoom with the Cheerleader coaching staff and members of the Ravens front office.

Round 3 – Final Tryout

What are the minimum qualifications to tryout?

You must be 18 by May 1, 2021 to tryout. You must also have a high school diploma or GED. You must also have either a part-time job, full-time job, be a full-time student, or have a family.

What can I do to prepare for tryouts?

Check out our tryout page for helpful information leading up to tryouts.

Follow the squad on Facebook and Instagram to see the current team, and their look and style.

Focus on making sure you are physically fit and develop your dance technique and stunt skills leading up to tryouts.

Prepare your paperwork and tryout materials so you are ready to submit when the first round opens – this includes headshot and full body shot photos, and an updated resume.

Will there be a 2021 Prep Clinic?

No, we will not host a Prep Clinic before 2021 tryouts. We recommend you check out our tryout page for tips and tricks leading up to tryouts.

What should I wear for my tryout video?

Females: You can wear a two-piece dance outfit, or a sports bra or crop top with short biker shorts. Please wear dance or jazz shoes or sneakers. You may also wear skin colored panty hose or dance tights if preferred. Hair and makeup should complement your features, and hair should be worn down.

The Ravens use and recommend The Lineup for dance costumes. You can access their choices by visiting www.thelineup.com

Males: Wear a plain white t-shirt and black shorts. You must be clean shaven and have a clean haircut.

Will the tryout dance material be taught, or will I have to choreograph a few 8 counts?

We will release a recording of the 2021 tryout dance when the first round of auditions is live. You will have about a week to submit your video from when the dance is available.

2021 General Cheerleader Frequently Asked Questions

What are some of the benefits of being a Ravens Cheerleader?

Members of the Ravens Cheerleading Squad have several opportunities, including but not limited to:

  • The ability to perform in front of 70,000 fans during Ravens home games
  • Exposure through media, high profile events, and community relations events
  • Monetary compensation for all practices and games, as well as additional opportunities to generate compensation for public events and appearances
  • Opportunity for travel to represent the Baltimore Ravens on military tours, the NFL Pro Bowl, and other events outside of Baltimore
  • Uniforms and apparel are provided for all squad members
  • Join the Cheerleader Alumni network and participate in Alumni events

Who comprises the Ravens Cheerleading Squad?

The Ravens Cheer squad is comprised of approximately 55 total cheerleaders, with roughly 37 on the co-ed stunt team and 18 on the dance team.

What style of dance do the Ravens Cheerleaders perform?

Performances are mostly precision-based Cheer & Dance style routines, but Jazz and Pom styles are also incorporated. Different levels of dance skills, jumps and tumbles are also incorporated.

What is the time commitment if you make the team?

Being a member of the Ravens Cheerleading squad is a significant time commitment but is an experience you will never forget. You can expect the following as a Ravens Cheerleader:

  • Attending and performing at home games for the season. Cheerleaders arrive at the stadium approximately 5 hours before kickoff for each game.
  • Practices are 1-2 times a week, depending on the time of year. Practices are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 – 9 pm. Practice locations vary.
  • Each Ravens Cheerleader should plan to attend approximately 20 appearances each season. There are a few mandatory appearances each year that the full squad is required to attend.

Is there an age limit to try out for the squad?

To try out, you must be 18 by May 1, 2021. There is no maximum age limit.

Are Ravens Cheerleaders paid?

Yes, cheerleaders are paid for practices, games and appearances.

Who are the Ravens Playmakers? How are they different from the Cheerleaders?

The Playmakers are the Ravens' promotional team. They appear at restaurants and establishments throughout Maryland and attend all Ravens home games. They are different than Cheerleaders as they do not perform at home games. You can find out more about the Ravens Playmakers here.
