Media Advisory - North Avenue to be Renamed 'Ray Lewis Way'

Baltimore City Council president Bernard C. "Jack" Young and the Ray Lewis Foundation will name a section of Baltimore City's North Avenue "Ray Lewis Way" on Tuesday, May 11. Ravens LB Ray Lewis*will be on hand to accept the honor, and Baltimore City Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Ravens head coach John Harbaugh* will be among those who make remarks.

The North Avenue corridor, at the corner of Broadway, is home to the DIAKON Center, where Lewis and his charitable foundation host an annual Thanksgiving distribution for nearly 1,000 Baltimore families in need. The 11-time Pro Bowler has been actively involved in the Baltimore community since his arrival to the team in 1996.

The Ray Lewis Foundation is a non-profit tax-exempt corporation whose mission is to provide personal and economic assistance to disadvantaged youth. In addition to his Thanksgiving distribution, Lewis annually hosts a back-to-school kickoff event and a Holiday Gift Marketplace where youth "shop" for gifts for themselves and loved ones.
