Girls flag football is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, and Maryland is helping lead the charge. Backed by the Baltimore Ravens and key statewide partners, what started as a 10-team pilot in 2023 has grown into more than 130 school-based programs across the state—culminating in official sanctioning by the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association as a state championship sport in Fall 2026. This November, the inaugural Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association Girls Flag Football State Championships will take place at M&T Bank Stadium, marking a historic new chapter for female student-athletes across Maryland.
