2016 NFL Draft Order Finalized

Posted Mar 29, 2016

The Ravens now know exactly where they will be picking in this year’s draft.

Ozzie Newsome and company now know exactly where they will be picking in this year’s NFL Draft.

The league has released the finalized order for every team, and the Ravens have nine picks in this year’s draft. Baltimore received three compensatory selections after losing a strong class in free agency last year, and those departures bolstered this year’s draft haul.

Below is the full order for where the Ravens will be picking:

Round One: No. 6
Round Two: No. 36
Round Three: No. 70
Round Four: No. 104
No. 130 (from Denver)
No. 132 (Compensatory)
No. 134 (Compensatory)
Round Six: No. 182
No. 209 (Compensatory)

The Ravens are rich with picks early in the draft. In addition to having their highest first-round pick in 16 years, Baltimore has seven draft picks in the first four rounds.

“I expect success – it doesn’t always happen – but I expect success from the fourth round and forward,” Owner Steve Bisciotti said at the owners meetings last week.

Newsome will be incredibly busy in the fourth round with four selections in the span of 30 picks. The Ravens have so many fourth-round picks because they added a pair of compensatory picks in that round, and also acquired Denver’s in a trade for center Gino Gradkowski last season. The Ravens dealt Gradkowski and a fifth-round pick to Denver in exchange for a fourth rounder.

With so many picks in the fourth round, Newsome does have ammunition if he wants to maneuver around the board in earlier rounds. The compensatory picks can’t be traded, but he could deal pick Nos. 104 or 130 if needed.

The Ravens do not have a seventh-round pick because they dealt that to acquire cornerback Will Davis early in the season.

“I don’t see us with gaping holes, and I think we can do some damage with the picks that we have,” Bisciotti said.
