Justin Forsett Lands On His Feet In Detroit

Former Ravens running back Justin Forsett wasn't out of work for long.

Forsett is signing with the Detroit Lions, per reports and a tweet from Forsett and his agent, a week after he was released by the Ravens.

The Lions haven't officially announced the move.

Forsett worked out for the Lions Tuesday after officially (and comically) putting himself on the job hunt.

The Lions have had a rash of injuries at running back and needed a veteran presence. Starter Ameer Abdullah went on injured reserve after undergoing foot surgery and rookie Dwayne Washington is dealing with an ankle injury.

Theo Riddick and Zach Zenner were the Lions' only other two running backs.

Forsett, who will turn 31 years old Friday, posted 3.2 yards per carry during three starts with the Ravens. He had 31 rushes for 98 yards and caught 11 passes for 36 yards.

He's only two years removed from a Pro Bowl season, however. In 2014, Forsett ran for 1,266 yards and eight touchdowns and caught 44 passes for 263 yards.

He will join former Ravens Offensive Coordinator Jim Caldwell, who is the head coach in Detroit.

Forsett actually spent time in the Detroit area earlier this year when he volunteered to help during the Flint water crisis. Forsett and former Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith delivered water and shower wipes to those in need in February.

Since he was such a beloved figure in the Ravens locker room, players reached out to congratulate Forsett on the signing.
